CFOSONDEMAND was started by necessity. A few years back Mr. Schiller, got a call from a colleague who was president of the Americas region of a small publicly traded technology company. His CFO had a sudden heart attack and he needed an immediate interim CFO to pick up the pieces. He didn’t trust to hire anyone he didn’t know and he didn’t know how long it would take the current CFO to return, if ever. The company didn’t have a wide enough bench for someone to step up to fulfil the CFO’s duties and the CEO didn’t have the time or the experience to decide who was or wasn’t a good candidate for the task. Fred, reached out to Mr. Schiller, who was already a trusted advisor and hired Mr. Schiller through his consulting company DCS, LLC to outsource the CFO. Mr. Schiller reviewed hundreds of resumes and interviewed 10 people. Mr. Schiller quickly hired, a CPA that was a former controller of a similar firm to work for him. The company had to still pay for the current CFOs salary and benefits so it couldn’t afford two CFO salaries. So we had to look for efficiencies. After one month, we introduced automated processes and trained some of the other accounting staff to work better/ smatter, and implemented internal controls that made the CFO’s position less time consuming. The interim CFO was able to do all the work in 4 days instead of working 5 days. We than implemented an HRIS system that resulted in a more efficient work force. The old CFO came back on a part time basis, after 7 months and the interim CFO was assigned to a new client through Mr. Schiller’s new venture CFOSONDEMAND two days a week and at this client, he continued to work as a controller two days a week. The company was eventually sold to a private equity firm and both, the old CFO and the interim CFO still work for CFOSONDEMAND on several clients.
