Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania
The mission of the Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania (CAFR) is to build, on a solid foundation, the identity and public recognition of the profession of financial auditor in Romania; its primary objective is the sustained development of the profession and its strengthening with Auditing Standards and the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct in financial audit, by adopting in full the International Standards and the Code of Ethics of IFAC, allowing financial auditors, who are members of CAFR, to provide high quality financial audit services, in the public interest, in general, and in the interest of the business community, in particular.

Law no. 149/2013 for the approval of the Government Ordinance no. 23/2012 for the amendment and completion of GEO no. 90/2008 regarding the statutory audit of annual financial statements and consolidated financial statements and of the Government Ordinance no. 65/1994 on the organization of the accounting expertise and licensed accountants activity and for the amendment of other regulatory acts was published in the Official Journal, Part I, no. 257 of 9 May 2013. The members of the Superior Council of the Council for the Public Interest Oversight of the Accountancy Profession are the representatives appointed by the institutions with regulating attributions in the field of accounting, namely the Ministry of Public Finances, National Bank of Romania, Financial Supervisory Authority, as well as by the Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania and the Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania. The Superior Council is composed of 7 members and has the following structure: (i) a representative of the Ministry of Public Finances, appointed by the minister of public finances; (ii) a representative of the Ministry of Justice, appointed by the minister of justice; (iii) a representative of the National Bank of Romania, appointed by the governor; (iv) the president of the Financial Supervisory Authority, appointed by the president; (vii) the president of the Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania, or a representative of this institution, appointed by the Chamber’s Council; (viii) the president of the Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania, or a representative of this institution appointed by the Body’s Superior Council; (ix) the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania or a representative of this Chamber, appointed by the Chamber’s president.
