Luther Nicholson started the accounting and tax practice (L.B. Nicholson, CPA) in 1952 and maintained it as a sole proprietorship for 35 years. In 1987, the firm became Nicholson and Clopton and remained that way for another 10 years until it became Clopton & Company in 1997, and Cathy R. Clopton, CPA in 2006. In late 2008, the firm opened a second office in Rockwall with the purchase of a 5-year old practice. In the eight years since opening our second office, technology has made it possible to work from virtually anywhere with computers and good internet access. So, in late 2016, we took advantage of such technology and consolidated our operations back to the office in Garland.
