Cultura Bank received a banking license 16 August 1996 and commenced 1 January 1997 with total assets of 41.0 mill.kr which has quadrupled in seven years. The work that led to the establishment of the Cultura Bank began in 1986, with the founding of Cultura Lånesamvirke (Cultura Loan Cooperative).
