Delph & Co

Delph & Co was incorporated and commenced in early 2003, but had foundations and a good number of clients from many years earlier (Some from 20 years earlier). We are a small pro-active Sole Practitioner firm. Michael Delph, having commenced his working life working for a bank, moved to the public sector and trained as an Accounting Technician (1980), and Chartered Public Finance Accountant (1985) with Norfolk County Council, and subsequently worked for Norwich City Council, in a number of roles, and as Assistant City Treasurer from 1990 until he left to start Delph & Co having clocked up 25 years public sector experience. Concurrently with this from the early 1980’s he was helping people with their business and tax affairs, and latterly forming and supporting companies in his spare time, always having the desire to have his own accountancy firm. Experience from acting as Finance Manager for the £60m Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Project (The Forum) (on secondment from 1998-2003) to the project team, and subsequently to the Forum Trust, saw him having a key role in the scoping of the project, its business planning and capital and revenue finances, and its bidding success gaining £60m Lottery funding and funding from other sources, and it’s very successful implementation, commencing and ongoing operation. He dealt with people of all levels, including the Millennium Commission, Council Political Leaders and Chief /Senior Officers, and of Executives of the Further and Higher Education Sector and Learning & Skills Council and Business support organisations – Chamber of Commerce etc., together with the Forum Trust Board, which comprised very senior business community members (Aviva, Marsh, and Archant) Mike was accountable and acquired knowledge and skills well-outside those normally gained and possessed by an accountant in practice on matters such as Commercial Property letting and management, Marketing and Business Development and Personnel/HR. We have and are growing a successful team. As a firm our desire is that all of us as staff are very approachable and accessible, and that we provide a direct, personal and hands-on approach and high quality in all that we do.
