Founded in 1921 as Banque de Dépôts. Acquired by John S. Latsis and family in 1980. Current name adopted in 1995. Controls two sub-groups; EFG International, Zurich (private banking worldwide; 48.7%) and EFG Eurobank Ergasias, Athens (retail banking in Greece and central and eastern Europe; 41.3%).
