Our Services

FOX offers various services to help clients at any stage of their journey. From educational programs to customized solutions, we aim to help clients realize the full potential of their capital and reach their goals.

Since 1989

FOX has been serving families, their offices, and their advisors for over 30 years, providing objective guidance and thoughtful solutions to the unique obstacles that family offices face.

A History of Excellence

More than 30 years ago, Sara Hamilton recognized that family wealth ownership is a complex and unique undertaking that needs thoughtful planning and execution. So she founded FOX in 1989 as a peer network for family office owners and executives facing common challenges but without shared, trusted platform to learn from each other.

Within a decade, FOX established itself as the go-to organization for owners and operators seeking unbiased education about managing their family enterprise and passing wealth successfully to future generations.

Advisors joined the FOX community shortly after that to gain access to the same peer sharing, education, and insights, and to offer their unique contribution to the membership, given their critical role in service and partnering with families.

Over 30 years of FOX

Over three decades, FOX has served as an industry advocate, a source of education and training for family members, office staff, and their advisors, and a platform for sharing enterprise best practices for preserving family values and family wealth.

Since 1989, we have supported families and those surrounding them with the tools needed to succeed, optimized family offices, and provided much-needed guidance throughout a family’s journey. Like many families we work with, we have evolved and are ever-changing to meet the growing needs of the industry and the families we serve.

Meet the People behind FOX

Meet the FOX team – a dynamic group of accomplished and dedicated experts, educators, thought leaders, and family office and wealth management professionals with decades of experience serving families, family offices, and their trusted advisors.

Sara Hamilton, Founder and Board Chair

Sara is one of the first professionals to recognize family offices as the most sophisticated segment of wealth management, and she has been described as “the Warren Buffet of the family office industry”. When hundreds of U.S. families became centi-millionaires through leveraged buyouts in the 1980s and 1990s, private family offices were created to manage family capital and to educate wealth owners.

Sara founded the Family Office Exchange (FOX) as a peer network for family office executives in 1989. Within 10 years, she could see that families needed help with family governance and managing financial transitions, in addition to their family offices. As a result, FOX evolved into an advisor to family enterprises, a platform for sharing family wealth best practices, and an industry advocate for the importance of private enterprise in a global economy.

Today, Sara provides input to the strategic direction for FOX and supports the development of new programs and services for family enterprises and wealth advisory firms in 25 countries. Sara is the co-author of Family Legacy and Leadership: Preserving True Family Wealth in Challenging Times. She serves on the executive education faculty of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where she is an adjunct faculty member for their Private Wealth Management and Essentials of Wealth courses in the Executive Education program. She is on the founding board for the Foundation Advancing Impact and Sustainability in Bologna and the founding board for the Private Directors Association in Chicago.
