HSBC Trinkaus - our name is steeped in history. In 1785 Christian Gottfried Jäger establishes his trading house in Dusseldorf. Christian Gottfried Trinkaus, one of the founder's nephews, takes over the firm in 1852, giving it his name. He concentrates exclusively on the banking business from now on. C.G. Trinkaus merges with Bankhaus Burkhardt & Co. in 1972. The bank now operates under the name of Trinkaus & Burkhardt. In 1980 UK-based Midland Bank acquires a majority stake in Trinkaus & Burkhardt. Trinkaus & Burkhardt is converted to a partnership limited by shares (Kommanditgesellschaft auf Aktien - KGaA) in 1985, and is listed on the stock exchange. HSBC Holdings plc acquires Midland Bank in 1992 and now holds a majority stake in Trinkaus & Burkhardt. In 1999 the bank is renamed HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt KGaA. In 2006 HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt changes its legal structure from KGaA to AG. HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt AG is a German Stock Corporation, managed by four members of the Management Board. HSBC Group holds 78.6% of the equity capital of HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt AG. Landesbank Baden-Württemberg holds a 20.3% stake in HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt AG.
