Kariba Capital is named after Lake Kariba in Africa, a continent where firm partners Derek Caldwell and Albert Yuen have focused much of their practice. Kariba is the largest man-made lake and reservoir in the world by volume and was filled between 1958 and 1963, flooding the Kariba Gorge on the Zambezi River. The lake is situated on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, and was originally designed to be a hydroelectric reservoir to provide clean power to the two countries.
