Alan Davis, CFA Principal With 15 years of senior-level equity analysis experience, L. Alan Davis has developed and published research products on a sizable and diverse set of companies. Mr. Davis started L. A. Davis & Associates (LAD) in 2010. While at LAD, Mr. Davis' equity research reports have expedited the process of getting his clients’ stories to investors and helped others attain equity and bank financing. His strategic planning & executive benchmarking reports have assisted directors in memorializing key financial and non-financial corporate goals, and his due diligence & fairness opinion reports have enabled clients to efficiently and effectively vet proposed acquisitions. Prior to starting L. A. Davis & Associates, Mr. Davis served as Vice President, Senior Research Analyst for Lake Oswego, OR-based D.A. Davidson & Co.’s Institutional Research Division. While at Davidson he established research coverage of the digital media software sector and spearheaded the firm’s first Digital Media Software Summit. While providing clients with valued insight and publishing research on the software, cable, music, broadcast, and film technology sectors his recommended or “Buy” rated companies achieved excess returns of 8.2% over the NASDAQ benchmark. Prior to Davidson, Mr. Davis served as Vice President, Research for Seattle, WA-based McAdams Wright Ragen, Inc. where he grew his group’s institutional coverage list from 5 to 14 companies by identifying promising candidates in the software, hardware, semiconductor, and aerospace sectors. His retail coverage list included the automotive, Internet, hardware, and software sectors. While fortifying existing institutional relationships, he established multiple new clients, and consistently ranked near or at the top of the StarMine analyst accuracy ratings. His “Recommended List” stock picks that consistently exceeded return targets. Prior to McAdams Wright Ragen, Mr. Davis served as Senior Research Analyst for Portland, OR-based Red Chip Companies. During his tenure at Red Chip he published primary equity research on 45 public companies in multiple sectors including heavy industry, medical devices, retail, technology, and consumer products. He recruited, trained, and managed research team that delivered “Top-Pick” returns of 52.0% (1999) and 26.9% (2000) compared to Russell 2000 benchmark returns of 16.7% and 3.5%, respectively. Mr. Davis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business with a Concentration in Finance from the University of Washington and a Master of Science, Finance degree from the Albers School of Business and Economics at Seattle University.
