Martin Accounting & Tax Service was founded by Kenneth W. Martin Sr. in 1970, the year of the first Illinois Income Tax Return. Since then, the firm has grown from a one-man office to three full time and three part time staff members. After obtaining a degree in accounting, becoming a Certified Public Accountant, and working in both a corporate environment and for one of the top 25 Chicagoland accounting firms, Ken and Bonnie's youngest daughter, Amber Martin Johnson joined the staff in 1999. While working at Martin Accounting & Tax Service, Amber completed her Master's Degree in Taxation and became a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning. Joe Johnson, Amber's husband, is both a tax preparer and financial strategist. In 2007 he obtained the Certified Financial Planner designation. His finance background has assisted clients with a broad range of financial solutions and he continues to consult with the firm's clients. At the start of 2006, Ken sold the business to his daughter Amber. While the business may have a new owner and slightly different name, the same policies and concern for our client's financial well being remain.
