The history of MoraBanc dates back to 1938, in the Principality of Andorra, when Bonaventura Mora opened the “Comptoir Andorrano de Change,” an establishment primarily engaged in currency exchange. On June 6, 1952, Bonaventura Mora was granted authorization to carry out all kinds of monetary transactions and, in 1956, the Banca Mora name was authorized. In April 1962 Banca Mora acquired Banca Coma and, in 1970, Banco de Bilbao (today, Banco Bilbao Vizcaya-Argentaria, BBVA), became a shareholder in the bank. Since that time, the progress of the group in association with BBVA has not ceased to move forward. In 2006 the Andorran founding partners acquired the 51% of the shares held by BBVA; and MoraBanc became a 100% Andorran group. In November 2011 the banking group reincorporated the founding family's name into the bank's name. BIBM became MoraBanc, to enhance the family aspect and banking tradition, and emphasize the soundness of the group, with 60 years of experience and commitment to its customers, and also to consolidate the group's international image. MoraBanc today has branches throughout the territory of the Principality of Andorra and, in 2008, the group began its international expansion with the opening of two branches. The first was Mora Wealth Management (MWM) in Zurich (Switzerland), soon followed by the 2009 acquisition of PRS Latam in Miami (USA), now Mora Wealth Management Miami. Continuing the international expansion, a new subsidiary has been opened in Montevideo (Uruguay), the brokerage Mora WM Securities in Miami (Florida) devoted to securities trading and a regional office called MoraBanc Middle East located in Dubai and a Management Company in Luxembourg, named Mora Asset Management Luxembourg.
