I've broad experience in the financial services industry having started out as an actuary with Scottish Widows and then later being Director of Marketing with Norwich Union (now Aviva). In my most recent role at Norwich Union I developed some innovative new propositions targeted at the retirement market. This work was founded on customer research which recognised the issues that customers have when dealing with financial advisers and product providers. As a result of the work I had been responsible for at Norwich Union, I felt that the real power to help customers lay in the hands of financial advisers. In fact, with independent financial advisers who are able to provide the most appropriate solution without constraints tailored to meet individual needs. I became an independent financial adviser in October 2008.
