2012 - Sumitomo Trust & Banking takes minority stake in NewSmith LLP and establishes a strategic partnership. STB has acquired 40% of NewSmith LLP, the entity that has acquired the asset management businesses of NewSmith Capital Partners LLP. NewSmith UK Fund launched in October 2012. 2010 - NewSmith Global Alpha and Global Absolute Return strategies launched in September. 2009 - NewSmith became a signatory to Hedge Fund Standards Board in May. 2008 - UniCredit Group acquired NewSmith debt advisory business in July 2007 - NewSmith's European Equity strategy launched in March. 2006 - NewSmith's Tokyo office opened in January. Japanese Equities strategy launched in September of the same year. 2004 - NewSmith launched its first investment portfolios in UK Hedge and UK Long Only in in April and July of the same year. 2003 - NewSmith Capital Partners LLP founded by Michael Marks, Paul Roy, Stephen Zimmerman, Check Low and Ron Carlson.
