1765 Establishment of the Braunschweigische Staatsbank. 1840 Establishment of the Hannoversche Landeskreditanstalt. 1917 Establishment of the Niedersächsische Landesbank. 1918 Establishment of the Niedersächsische Wohnungskreditanstalt-Stadtschaft. 1970 NORD/LB created out of the merger of four banks: Niedersächsische Landesbank, Braunschweigische Staatsbank, Hannoversche Landeskreditanstalt, Niedersächsische Wohnungskreditanstalt-Stadtschaft. 1983 Bremer Landesbank Girozentrale joins the NORD/LB Group. 1985 NORD/LB opens a branch in London. 1991 NORD/LB opens a branch in New York. 1992 NORD/LB begins to operate as a state bank (Landesbank) and central savings bank in Saxony-Anhalt. 1993 NORD/LB begins to operate as a state bank (Landesbank) and central savings bank in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. 1994 NORD/LB acquires a stake in Bankgesellschaft Berlin AG. NORD/LB acquires a stake in MHB, Mitteleuropäische Handelsbank, Frankfurt. NORD/LB opens a branch in Singapore. NORD/LB acquires Skandifinanz Bank AG, Zürich. 1999 NORD/LB opens branches in Vilnius and Stockholm and a representative office in Beijing. 2000 NORD/LB acquires a majority interest in Pirma Banka, Latvia. 2001 NORD/LB opens a representative office in Tallinn. NORD/LB acquires a majority interest in MHB, Mitteleuropäische Handelsbank, Frankfurt. The representative office in Helsinki becomes a branch. 2002 NORD/LB acquires a majority interest in LZUB (Lietuvos Zemes Ukio Bankas), Lithuania. MHB, Mitteleuropäische Handelsbank, Frankfurt, establishes MHB Bank Polska SA in Warsaw. NORD/LB opens a representative office in Oslo. 2003 Since May 2003, all of NORD/LB's activities in north eastern Europe have been conducted under the umbrella brand name of NORD/LB. The subsidiary LZUB (Lietuvos Zemes Ukio Bankas) in Vilnius/Lithuania now trades under the official name of NORD/LB Lietuva, while Pirma Banka in Riga/Latvia was renamed NORD/LB Latvija and MHB Polska S.A. will also changed its name to NORD/LB Bank Polska Norddeutsche Landesbank S.A. 2004 December, 7: Deutsche WertpapierService Bank AG transfers 31 savings banks and NORD/LB onto its processing system. 2005 June: NORD/LB, Sparkasse Hannover and japanese Shinsei Bank Ltd. found SGK Servicegesellschaft Kreditmanagement GmbH, a joint venture to dispose of distredded loans. SGK starts business in September 2005. July: NORD/LB and Sparkasse Hannover found KreditServices GmbH (KSN), a joint loan-servicing company to process standard loans. KSN starts business in September 2005. July: New state treaty and the new NORD/LB articles of association entered into force. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania withdraws from its public ownership. August: NORD/LB divests its real estate line of business and sells all of its shares in NILEG Immobilien Holding GmbH to the Fortress Investment Group. 2006 January, 2: BANK DnB NORD A/S starts its operating business. The bank is a Joint Venture of NORD/LB and the largest Norwegian financial group DnB NOR.
