Stone Venture Partners was created to specifically support small and medium size businesses who need a combination of finance, hands on support and who fall in the “equity gap” between bank support (under £100,000) and traditional venture capital (over £1m). We’re also a little bit different because we treat ourselves as partners with our investee businesses and play a part in the growth of the business. We only work with talented management teams who show the requisite ability to take advantage of the opportunity they have identified and who share our passion and support for a partnership. Our in-house legal teams can support our business partners with a wide range of legal issues, from property & contacts to mergers & acquisitions. We can also help with accountancy & finance, sales & marketing and with supporting business strategy. Practically, where there are skill gaps in your management team, we can provide a “skill bridge” until the right people or suppliers are attracted to the business. HOW WE OPERATE Fundamentally we are investors who have developed our own unique style of ’hands on’ investing. We call ourselves Partners because that is exactly how we see our relationship with the companies and shareholders we work with. We stand side-by-side with management teams and business owners and we work to help grow these businesses to realise their full potential. We are not a traditional venture capital fund as we invest our own money. As such, we’re not under any time pressure to realise an exit and we don’t have complicated committees to approve an investment – you deal with us directly. We support our investee businesses. We don’t manage the companies nor do we get more involved than we are invited to do so.
