The Bank owes its position today to the loyal support of its customers, shareholders, and other stakeholders. Recently, we have witnessed major changes in the banking environment. Deregulation has dramatically expanded the areas in which banks are involved, and we have also had to adapt to requirements under the new Financial Instruments and Exchange Law and Basel II. Another change has been the expanding role of banks in such areas as social contribution and environmental protection. As a regional financial institution, our mission in this changing environment is to provide a timely response to the needs of our customers and to serve them with a wide range of business activities.
