Vistage started from very humble beginnings over five decades ago. One October morning in 1957, a Wisconsin businessman named Robert Nourse met with four fellow chief executives in the office of the Milwaukee Valve Company to test a simple, yet revolutionary idea—share their knowledge and experiences to help each other generate better results for themselves and their businesses. Soon this group of businessmen were probing, asking questions and making suggestions. They challenged each other, working together to solve issues and grow. At that moment, The Executive Committee (TEC) and the first Executive Leadership Program was born. Today, TEC is known as Vistage and operates in 16 countries around the world. Our members meet in private advisory groups every month under the same guiding principles—to help one another become better leaders, make better decisions and achieve better results. What’s more, Vistage members are connecting in ways Nourse never could have imagined: learning from hundreds of top industry speakers, tapping into a vast online resource library, and collaborating online around the world. Robert Nourse: “You can imagine how excited I was, when halfway into our very first TEC meeting, all the members removed their jacket and ties, rolled up their sleeves and said, ‘Now, let’s get down to work’”. Vistage is still focused on the heritage Bob created – that’s why Vistage still works and enables today’s business leaders to get answers and take action.
