Upon having obtained the licence on 12 March 1999, under the decision of the Chairman of the Banking Supervision Commission it commenced in December 1999 the operating activity under the name of RHEINHYP-BRE Bank Hipoteczny. Its founders, the German RHEINHYP Rheinische Hypothekenbank AG (currently EUROHYPO AG) and the Polish BRE Bank SA contributed to the new project, apart from capital, their best assets – long-lasting experience in the European mortgage market and knowledge of the Polish market. Under this very brand – identified with professionalism, progressiveness and top service quality – the Bank built a solid market position and became one of the strongest players in the market of real property finance, having no competitors among the domestic mortgage banks. After 10 years of operation – since the year 2005 under the name of BRE Bank Hipoteczny – it is continually strengthening the market position accomplishing new market successes as a leading lender, advisor and issuer of covered bonds. The Bank’s offer is designed for business entities and institutional clients investing in purchase, construction or modernisation of commercial real property, such as office buildings, shopping malls, hotels, warehouse and logistics facilities as well as estates of apartment blocks and houses built by housing developers. As the first in the post-war Poland it issued mortgage covered bonds in June 2000 and public sector covered bonds in 2007. The value of all outstanding covered bonds of BRE Bank Hipoteczny is nearly PLN 2.5 billion which accounts for 70% market share.
