With his straight forward, aggressive and strategic approach, James E. Jenkins, President and founder of Jenkins & Company, P.C., has led the accounting profession for over 30 years. A southeast Michigan native, Jim graduated from the Detroit Institute of Technology in 1976 and became a Certified Public Accountant. Jim worked for two of Michigan's most prominent accounting firms before opening the doors of Jenkins & Company, P.C. in 1980. The firm has grown its local roots serving Michigan companies and his exceptional expertise has grown his practice nationwide. Jenkins & Company has garnered clients across the nation from Hawaii to New York. Jim personally develops tax strategies for each of his clients and leads a strong team of accounting professionals, researchers, tax strategists and business consultants. Jenkins & Company professionals also know that a good tax strategy involves much more than simply filing forms - up-to-the-minute knowledge of tax procedures and changes is a key feature of the firm. In fact, as a scholar of tax law and Internal Revenue Service procedures, Jim has amassed and maintains one of the finest tax research libraries in the nation. He found he had a special talent for bringing non-filers back into the IRS loop and helping to preserve their assets in the process. His successes with his clients prompted him to author the book, "Failure to File," which is available in editions for individuals and for tax professionals. After years of successful client outcomes, Jim is renowned as an expert in his field. His personality and astute knowledge make him an in-demand speaker on a variety of financial issues. Jim is a two-time Accounting Today Gold Medal Award winner, 2011 America's Top Accountants Award winner and has appeared in many publications including, The New York Times, FORTUNE Magazine, USA Today, The Detroit News, The Detroit Free Press and a variety of other TV and radio programs.
