Shook Lin & Bok was founded in 1918 in Malaya (modern-day Malaysia) by two renowned practitioners Yong Shook Lin and Tan Teow Bok. The founders set high standards of professionalism, commitment and innovation, virtues which continue to forge the character of Shook Lin & Bok’s lawyers to this day. In 1964, Shook Lin & Bok was established in Singapore in an effort to create a pan-Asian law firm. From the outset, we have had a strong regional focus, a goal which has continued to drive Shook Lin & Bok through the years. In 1988, we were the first law firm to establish a dedicated China Practice. Now, the China Practice is one of the most highly-regarded in the market. With our clients showing increasing interest in the Indian sub-continent, a successful India Practice was launched in 2005.
