The Optima Group traces its history back to the early 1980's when Greg Sokolnikoff and Richard O'Brien began their respective business careers. Greg qualified as a Chartered Accountant while working for Coopers and Lybrand, and then accepted an overseas posting to Papua and New Guinea with Touche Ross before returning to Australia and commencing his own practice in 1988. Richard O'Brien commenced in the Financial Services Industry in 1981, predominately in the superannuation and insurance field and has grown with the financial planning industry as it has evolved over that period. Greg and Richard first started discussing the concept of an integrated accounting and financial services business in the late 90's, at a time when such ideas were virtually unknown in both the accounting and financial planning fields. In August 2001 the business commenced operations from premises in Anella Avenue Castle Hill, and following the integration of Optima Lending in 2006 the Optima Group has now moved to the state of the art Nexus Building in the Norwest Business Park.
