All professional staff hold baccalaureate degrees in addition to two master's degrees and one doctorate. The staff has over 100 years of cumulative experience in accounting, audit, tax, and business consulting, primarily in the small business and non-profit sectors. Three members of our staff specialize in our tax compliance practice and four members specialize in attest services. Our CPA alumnae have graduated to the "Big Four", controllers, bankers, executive directors, chief financial officers, clergy, and even the Assistant Auditor General of Liberia. The firm currently provides services to nearly eighty small and medium sized non-profit organizations in Southwestern Pennsylvania including social service, educational, health care, artistic, housing, community development, recreational, fraternal, faith-based, and other community service organizations. Our goal is to help our clients orient their financial reporting systems to their goals, purposes, and functions while helping them develop reporting systems and procedures that support their compliance and performance auditing requirements. The firm also provides support to about fifty small businesses. This includes people in business to serve the public including many types licensed professionals, craftsmen, and other service providers. We support non-profit organizations in development and maintenance of cost-effective techniques for collection, summarization, and reporting of financial data that meet both organizational and stakeholder needs. We are fully experienced in FAS no. 117 and OMB Circular A-133, as amended, financial, and compliance audits in accordance with auditing standards generally accepted in the United States of America under FASB and generally accepted government auditing standards under GASB. The required technical knowledge and experience in the accounting principles and financial reporting practices are evidenced by our successful 2009 peer review. This, our sixth triennial peer review process required a careful review and update of our quality control and procedures manual. In addition, an independent CPA firm specializing in such services sampled our 2009 audit engagements, including financial, Single, and HUD audits. The assurance documentation procedures for each engagement were examined assuring that we had performed the engagements in accordance with our policy and procedures manual; with proper application of audit procedures and principals; and with appropriate reporting and disclosure documentation. Services to the Nonprofit Community We assist nonprofit organizations in reporting to their stakeholders (their management /leadership, funders, the community, agencies that provide government oversight (i.e. IRS) in providing accurate timely and accurate reporting. We do this by offering financial attest services to our nonprofit clients through audits, compilations, reviews and tax informational returns. Auditing is the most detailed of the three, and is the process of obtaining and evaluating evidence to compare the organization's financial assertions and generally-accepted accounting principles and criteria. A compilation is the most basic service. It provides limited assurance concerning the conformance of a set of financial statements with generally-accepted accounting principles. A review falls in between an Audit and a Compilation with regard to complexity; analytical procedures are applied to an organization's financial data and the resulting presentation of that information in the form of financial statements. In these attest services, we seek to help our clients align their financial reporting systems with their goals and purposes (functions). We are fully experienced in reporting to governmental agencies (under OMB Circular A-133, as amended) and those required by HUD. Informational returns (Form 990 and its variations), as well as Pennsylvania State and local returns are also prepared. Services to Small Businesses We assist small businesses in compiling financial statements, in tax panning and return preparations, and in analysis to improve organizational performance. Business entity selection and startup. Accounting system installation and setup. Quickbooks consultation. Tax Resolution (audit issues and liability). We file most types of returns in all States. Services to Individuals Our objective is to help you manage your tax obligations and reporting in such a manner that the cost of taxes is minimized and return preparation becomes a value added service. To accomplish this we seek client relationships that span multiple years that are focused on your goals and objectives. We understand the special requirements in preparing Pastor's returns. Ability to integrate college, retirement and other personal objectives into the tax planning process (Graduate of the College for Financial Planning). Respected by taxing authorities - Significant experience in resolution of tax issues. Available for consultation as needed. The Firm utilizes the most current software and online tools to assure you receive accurate, timely tax preparation. Also, the Firm's registrations with the Internal Revenue Service can facilitate timely resolution should a problem occur.
