Founded by Jim Bentley in 1981 and now under the guidance of directors Craig McGarr and Mark Arbuthnot, Bentley & Co. has an earned reputation for critical, strategic thinking and advice on consent and regulatory processes, particularly for major capital projects. This includes the analysis of plan objectives, policies and rules in relation to particular projects, the preparation of applications for resource consent, including the management of other consultants and the administrative process, the preparation of plan change applications, the review of proposed plans and plan changes and preparation of submissions, and preparation and presentation of evidence for both Council and Environment Court hearings. The practice has worked on a series of specific projects including planning for retailing, service stations, restaurants, churches, entertainment facilities, car parking facilities, ports and marinas, infrastructure, industrial, residential and rural developments and subdivisions. Bentley & Co. has a wide client list that includes agencies of government at all levels, corporate and other private sector clients, as well as network utility, institutional and community organisations.
