Neil Liversidge (Managing Director) has worked in financial services since 1980 and is an elected Director of APFA, the UK's national Association of Professional Financial Advisors. His experience includes five years in charge of investment research at a major UK IFA network, where as the ‘advisor to the advisors’, he provided research and guidance to more than 1,800 IFA firms throughout the UK. Neil specialises in investments and holds the Chartered Insurance Institute's specialist investment qualifications G20 (Personal Investment Planning) and J06 (Investment Principles, Markets and Environment). Linda Liversidge who co-founded West Riding worked for many years in a major Leeds law firm. In 2013 we were joined by our Operations Manager Charlotte Kelso who previously worked for 17 years with HSBC, starting as a banking representative at First Direct. Amongst Charlotte's many skills she is a fully qualified Equity Release Advisor. Consultant Peter Hatton has over 40 years experience and joined our team from Rathbones in 2012. 24/7 Service Tailored To Your Needs How many firms of any kind do you know where you can speak to somebody 24 hours a day, 365 days a year? At West Riding we aim to always be available to our clients. Out of office hours you can call Neil direct on 07904 332531. We understand that decisions affecting your financial future are amongst the most important you’ll ever make. That’s why we treat every client with the greatest of care, consideration and understanding. We’ll give you the time and attention you need, and because we understand that many people work during office hours, we are happy to arrange meetings on evenings and at weekends. What will happen? Our first meeting will include a thorough fact-finding exercise. We will then provide our recommendations in writing, so you can consider them at your leisure, after which further meetings and discussions may follow. Where necessary we will work with your solicitor, accountant or other professional advisor to ensure our advice fits with theirs. As you would expect, we place the highest importance on total client confidentiality. Most important of all, we tell it like it is, in plain English, explaining any risk that’s involved. Why Independent? 'Restricted' advisers are limited as to the products, funds and services they are able to offer. Some of the large well-known national firms can only offer you their own in-house products and funds or those of other firms with whom they have some form of reciprocal arrangement. We act on your behalf and in your best interests. Being independent means we are free to choose from a very wide range of providers across the entire market, finding the best products and funds to suit your particular circumstances. We are not limited as a 'restricted' firms. Charges - Fairfees Our first meeting with you is at our expense. Once we understand your situation and what work is needed we shall be able to tell you what the cost is likely to be. All fees are thus agreed in advance. We believe our Fairfees system to be amongst the most competitive on offer anywhere in the advisory profession. The Myth of Buying Life Assurance 'Direct' Some believe that insurance companies and supermarkets offer lower costs to clients who deal direct with them without taking independent advice. The reality is that no advice equals no consumer rights. Moreover, whenever we compare our quotes with theirs ours are invariably more competitive. We also provide the additional tax and trust advice that direct providers and supermarkets cannot offer. If your life assurance is not set up correctly then your intended beneficiaries might find that a large part of the benefit goes to the taxman.
